At YES Prep, student voices play a vital role in shaping the school experience. With that in mind, student leaders from Brays Oaks Secondary, Southeast Secondary, East End Secondary, North Central Secondary, Southside Secondary and Elementary, and Gulfton Secondary recently came together for a groundbreaking initiative—Student Voices, Principal Commitments: Building Authentic Communities.
This student-led space was designed to amplify student voices and experiences, giving them the opportunity to engage in student-facilitated circles with principals and members of the Schools Team. Throughout the discussions, students explored themes of identity, experience, and perspective, while also identifying trends that impact their communities.
The ultimate goal? For campus leaders to listen, reflect, and take action—making plans and commitments that enhance student voice and strengthen authentic community-building across campuses.
As YES Prep continues to create spaces that prioritize student leadership and collaboration, this initiative marks an important step in ensuring students are active participants in shaping their school environments.
Stay tuned for more updates on how student voices are driving change across our campuses!
